Samsung is set to unveil its latest digital media player as the company attempts to compete with Apple's touch-screen devices.
Similar to the newest iPod Touch, the Galaxy Player, which is powered by Google's Android software, has a front-facing camera that allows users to have video chats and upload photos online using wireless networks, Samsung said.
The gadget will go on sale in South Korea next month, though no price has yet been given.
Samsung plans to roll out the device in other countries in the April to June period and will show it off next week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The new product will directly compete with Apple's iPod Touch and help Samsung lure a wider range of customers with its brand- name Galaxy S smartphone, said Kim Chang Yeul, an analyst at Mirae Asset Securities.
"It's a natural extension of the product lineup," he said. "Their MP3 player didn't do so well, but they have a successful phone, so they're trying to build their product lineup on it."
